From my memory fasteners on minis of that period were all zinc (silver coloured) plated. Gold coloured plating (usually cadmium) was very common on imported Japanese cars of the late '60s to '70s.
Zinc plating will come out silver coloured but if it is 'passivated', it will have a gold tinge. I think that cadmium plating now has very strict controls on it.
There may have been exceptions on parts that were supplied as assembled units like the windscreen wiper motor cover for instance which I think was gold in colour.

Yes, and for a good reason. See the note on the engineering drawing for the Lucas 12 AUW wiper motor.

You say you expect an "anodising" kit. That is meant for surface treating aluminium parts.
Almost all fasteners are steel based and would be zinc plated, which is a different process.
Check which processing system you are planning to use: for aluminium or for steel.

I’m pretty sure the kit does both....... depending on what finish you want to what chemicals go in. I’ll have to double check though

Also note that Cadmium (when it oxidises, is cut, ground or burnt) and Zinc Chromate are known carcigonens (i.e. they WILL give you cancer, very solid research says so [not "google" or forum research]) even at low exposures.

We are banned from using these in all government contracts.

Hi Carter.
The bulk of the bolts on that model car would be silver and the subframes have special pins nuts and bolts. I send all parts to get plated at elite plating at Smithfield.
