The engineering drawing for the Cooper S (and Clubman GT) rear seat brace specifies a change to the way the RH fuel tank bracket was secured from 4 Feb 1971. If you have a Cooper S with a 2/71 or later build date on the ADR plate could you please check the method of securing, welded or bolted, and report back?

Hi Winabby, I’ve not got a 71 S, but here is a pic of a 8/71 build GT. Spot welded bracket as per drawings.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for that. Confirms what has been discussed on Clubman GT Facebook groups that all GT's had the spot-welded bracket. The current initiative is to work out if and when it was implemented on a Cooper S.

So it appears the spot-welded bracket may not have appeared until Clubman GT production.

Could have been a cost cutting method to shift to spot welding on the Clubman GT??

Thats a fair bit saved spot welding, from installing the bolt brackets and nuts as done on the Cooper S's.
