Did the SPO 41(Mk2 S) cars have 1 or 2 spacers per carburettor?
My car has 2 spacers each carb. I think they were needed to allow the throttle levers to clear the one-piece heat shield.

I have seen a document listing all the carburettor parts used and deleted in the conversion from HS2 to HS4 setup for SPO 41; can't find it and suspect 2 x 1/2 inch spacers might not be correct.

The single spacer/distance piece (per carby) on the standard setup (part 12A6) was replaced by two spacers (part AYA210) like you have now. I thought two narrow spacers rather than one thick spacer was chosen so the one-piece heat shield would sandwich between them but maybe not. I'm waiting for the engine to be finished so I can do a trial fit of the carbies and heat shield with the original Cooper S extractors. This will show the various clearances.

What thickness are the standard 12A6 spacers?

The 12A6 spacer on the HS2 carb comes out at just under 1/4inch (0.210").
The AYA210/12H1389 is listed as 0.535".

Looking for the HS4 spacers to fit to the mini I've been rebuilding. They are very expensive for what they are.
Thought about taking a pair from the SPO mini if they were not meant to have 2 spacers each carb.
Now think I'll just make some.

Bill - when I got my car the spacer and heat shield arrangement was just as you show in the picture, although the heat shield was bent up so as to clear the aftermarket extractors. The original S extractor pipes have a much lower profile as they turn downwards after exiting the head.

Mine had the one-piece shield originally too, with the original extractors (which worked incredibly well considering what they looked like!). Made a 2-piece heat shield as original was knocked about a bit and was difficult to fit. So it looks like I leave the spacers where they are.
BTW fitted a standard PCV system to replace the open recirculating one, as the blow-by gasses interfered with mixture and made it hard to tune the carbs near idle.

Of course I hope you realise that by doing that you no longer qualify to wear a NSW Police hat while driving the car? :)

I'm looking for AYA210 or 12H1389. Same thing (I think) - for HS4 1 - 1/2inch SU.
They are on eBay, used, for a few pounds but the ones I've seen are in UK and they can't spell "Australia" for the destination label at the post office; new ones at Minispares at 28 pounds each! Since they are not likely to wear out I don't want to pay that much as it only encourages them.

Interesting the drawing is for fabrication but the actual parts I've ever seen are cast as per the added drawing. I would imagine the cast items would have the holes drilled later?

I reckon the castings were machine and drilled to the drawing specs.

Thanks for the offer, but that's a lot of trouble to go through unless you think there's a market here for your effort (and I doubt it). I'll make some by hand - it won't be too hard.
