Hey guys, Considering getting some new 10 inch wheels. The current ones are 10" x 5" ET21 with 165 tyres and they sit pretty nicely with the innocenti flares. Seeing as the tyres as almost new I'll be using them on the new wheels. My question is, if I go to a 10" x 6" ET3 I realise they're going to stick out a bit more than the current ones but considering the amount of inward bulge I have on the 5" wheels will the actual tread move much further out from the guard? Greatly appreciate your feedback on this one guys. Cheers Simon |

The outside edge will stick out an extra 31mm. You should have marginally more clearance on inside, but overall it will stick out more |

In my humble opinion, 6" is a bridge too far for a mini. Stick with 5" maximum. |

I think 5 1/2 is great! (steelies in my case) Reading on Yokohamas website and they didn't recommend the A008 on a rim above 5 1/2 wide. There's some locally made 5 1/2 wheels that were advertised on here not long ago... |

I have 5" contessas with A008s on my mini, and they've been great. But keep in mind, whether you're going with 5, 5 1/2, or 6 inches, the tyre will be the same. A 5" rim is really only 127cm, which is pretty narrow for a 165mm tyre. It works well - it's been working for me for years. On the plus side, it's near impossible to get curb rash when the sidewall sticks out that much. A 6" is still only 152mm, the tyre is still wider at 165mm. Strange that they design a tyre to be so much wider than the rim. |

Back in the 60s we used to stretch 145/10s over 6" widies haha. 165/70s hadn't been invented yet.  165/70s on 6" wheels look nice, but Mr Plod doesn't like them sticking out. I still run 5" Contessas as they look period correct and I'm a retired cheapskate. |

I've had 165s on 7 inch wide chrome Cooper S (spun half) steelies, bit of a stretch but they were there for several years when I used the car as a daily driver and did several interstate high speed trips. |

I'd love to see a pic of them if you have one , I've always liked the look of widened chrome Cooper S rims  .
