Is there any way of telling the difference between the std and 1.5 degree negative camber control arms

By initial appearance no I don't think so, my 1.5 arms looked just like the ones they replaced but if you measure them carefully you should be able to see a difference. 1.5 neg arms should be longer.

it's highly unlikely that you have one 1.5° arm fitted - you could take both off and compare them, but I reckon it'd be a waste of time....

Measure from the subframe end of the arms to the ground on each side, or put a long spirit level between the balljoints and check the angles of both arms - I reckon you'll find that side is sitting at a very steep angle compared to the other

If it does turn out that the height is OK, but something is bent then it's not a big deal. Dad's MK1 S needed adjustable bottom arms to get it to align properly, something is bent somewhere, not sure where but it's there.

RE: 1.5 deg negative camber lower control arms.
They do not give you -1.5 deg camber.
They reduce whatever + camber you had by - 1.5 deg.
IIRC, the hole for the ball joint pin is 1/8" further out than for the standard arm and the casting is the same.
Edit:
Just checked the Special Tuning Notes - C-AKD 5096
Longer lower control arms are C-AJJ-3364 for the pair. It doesn't mention if the arms are actually different or just have the ball joint pin hole moved further out. I have vague recollections from times past that it was just the hole being repositioned but?????
