Can I ask that everyone check their mini registers, old photos and files on their computers for an engine number 9FSAY 37893 or a SA rego plate 577394.

SAPOL are searching for information regarding an unsolved missing persons case dating back to 1977. Please see the details below and if you or anyone you know has any information please contact, Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

“On 19th February 1977 Glen Stewart (also known as Hugh) went missing from Henley Beach. He was last seen driving a green Mini Cooper S, registration number 577394, engine number 9FSAY37893, from a party in Henley Beach towards his home address in Payneham South. Neither Mr Stewart or his Mini Cooper S were ever seen again and it is considered unlikely that Mr Stewart ever returned to his home address. There are no known reasons that Mr Stewart would go missing and this mysterious disappearance is under review as part of Operation Persist, at Major Crime and will soon to be featured on Crime Stoppers. Although it was over 40 years ago that Mr Stewart went missing, it is our desire to progress this case and provide his family with the answers they crave.”

The chassis number was probably never recorded by SA transport but I would estimate the car to be around YKG2S2 650 - 850. The number plates would be black and white similar to the pic below.

This is interesting, I wonder if the car is still around? I love these old cases

Presumably the police want to track back any sales of the car or engine and link it to the disappearance.

if its anything like QLD they can't trace a car. I've tried to do that on the history of my car

That is not the car. I was just using it as a reference for the plate type
