Hi All Anthony here.
I never post much as I can find most things I need on here with the search key.
we are about to build another motor for Targa Great Barrier Reef as the current 1275 is getting a bit sad. GR is working on the crank shaft and various other parts at the moment and I just wanted some opinions on what other people use for their race motors.
My first question is has any one on here used this type of clutch plate ? https://oz.minisport.com/c-aht598-clutc ... -only.html
Second question who stocks the best oil pumps?
Third question what head gaskets do people use?
Thanks in advance for any info.
Cheers Anthony.

Hi Anthony
Re your questions -
1. Clutch plate, think about how much power your engine is going to make and choose the clutch plate & diaphragm to suit. Most find the bonded & riveted clutch plate (C-AHT596) is fine. Orange dot diaphragm (C-AEG481) would also be suitable (if you can get one).
2. Look for a steel backed oil pump, most suppliers will stock these, eg Karcraft, MiniSportSA, MiniKingdom etc.
3. Have used BK450 (TAM1521) for many years without any issue.

Hope this helps.
regards
Steve

No personal experience but I have also been recommended the Payen BK450 by several knowledgeable people so have acquired one to put in my Cooper S engine. Most Mini parts places would have them. Here's MKO's offering.

When i went to see John @ MKO a few days ago he recommended i use the BK450 (TAM1521) head gasket for my Cooper S.

John told me that, this is the only head gasket Graham Russell will use on his engines.

Lets just say i added this to my parts pile :)

I use bk450 with forced induction and never had an issue. Only 45ftlb of torque though, not 50 like the Haynes book of lies tells ya.
