Can the experts on here clarify something for me? Are all 'S' cam oil pump drives peg drive?
My Mk2 has a star drive and have been told that mine is probably an 1100S cam.
There is currently a star drive cam on eBay stating that it is a Cooper S cam.

yeah, should be a peg/pin drive, but it doesn't matter what type of drive the cam has, it's the way it's been ground. Likely your engine has been rebuilt, someone took an 1100S camshaft and had someone grind some hot profile into it. Often the grinder needs a cam with a bit more meat on it, so they use a cam with a milder profile as a starting point.

Are there any numbers engraved into either end of the cam?

Don't know about any numbers as it is now in the engine and running.
Before it was stripped down, engine always run very smooth. I discovered it has 73mm bore. Big ends & mains all std. Head has 1 3/16" exhaust and runs 1 1/4" SU's.
Now running 1.5 roller rockers. Go quite well. Only been on the road a couple of weeks.

Originally they were all pin drive pumps.
If you fit a different cam with star or slot drive you need to drill additional holes to mount the oil pump as the bolt arrangement is different.
Pin drive pump has 3 bolts, star drive had 4 bolts and slot drive has 2 or 4??? bolts.
Looking at images for A series oil pumps there seem to be a number of different bolt arrangements for the slot drive pumps and star drive pumps.

Slot drive 1275 pumps all use 2 of the 4 original star drive pump's bolts.
There are also 2 Phillips head screws that hold the pump together.
Current star drive (splined shaft) pumps are also 2 bolt fixing.
