Is the lower arm suspension pin the same for all Mini’s. I found out the nut on mine is just there for display. One fell off and is slowly moving out of place. I plan to replace the pin and new bushings, spring washers and a unf nut. Shipping from AUS is so expensive can. Is the one from Mini Spares suitable? Is it also worth the investment to change to the adjustable lower control arm and adjustable tie bar with the correct bushings? Or keep it original? This is for a 73’ Clubman GT. Thanks |

All the same to the best of my knowledge. As to whether it's worth getting adjustable bottom arms and caster / tie bar, as yours is a GT you might want to keep it original. A compromise might be fixed 1.5 degree bottom arms, but you will still need adjustable castor / tie bars. If you have any difference in camber or castor between the sides adjustable allows you to dial it out. If it weren't for originality I'd say go for it it will let you tune the suspension to your liking and they are relatively cheap. |

There's some castor / tie bar bushes that one half is rubber the other is polyurethane that I used on mine, supposed to provide better stability under braking. |

What bushing should i use for the lower arm? There are 3 options. A two piece with a metal insert? A poly one? And one that looks like a one piece but has a metal insert and they said we need two per side..... |

I had little choice because I used negative bottom arms so needed the offset bushes, again up to you but I think they would be subject to cornering loads but not on braking so much, the potential movement is probably less so a quieter ride might come from using rubber versions. The poly might give more consistentcy and less movement but we already have solid mounted subframes compared to UK models.... Your decision really. |

Being a GT you should have the later type which uses the two piece tapered bushes. Early one are straight sided and have a small rim on the outer edge.... looks like a top hat. Once you get the old bush out your will be able to check whether the internal bore is parallel sided or tapered. If you have to buy before you can try I would opt for the tapered kind as that is what your car should have... assuming it has the original bottom arms. The choice between rubber or poly is somewhat personal. Poly is stiffer but can be of questionable quality. There are some dodgy manufacturers about that produce “pretty” parts that soon fall apart. Rubber is original but can go soggy if there a lot of oil floating around (not uncommon with old Minis). A good quality poly bush will give (theoretically) better handling and will last longer. Bad ones can crumble very quickly. Cheers, Ian |

I found that recent tapered rubber ones the metal inserts are too long. Not as per original. I had to shorten them. |

 Lower arm top hat bush in poly to fit all lower arms with twin taper as standard from 1965. Mini Spares have upped the game once again with these superbly finished bushes which surpass anything on the market. Fitted with a metal bush insert these are made in black poly. Through testing we found that bushes perform better when fitted with a sleeve, maybe thats why BMC/Leyland fitted them. This is the one I ordered. I hope it is the right one |

Are you sure you got the correct ones??? It may be just the photo .... or the loose assembly... but the pin doesn't seem to align properly with the hole in the arm??? With standard arms, the hole/steel liner should be parallel/concentric with the outer edge of the bush. Cheers, Ian |
