Hi,

Getting ready to paint the +100 1098 build again & wanting to confirm engine numbers.

Block appears to be stamped 10004937 (where an engine plate may have been otherwise riveted).

The Mini is an April 1973 Leyland Australia Mini Window Van.

Does the number match the build date?

Thanks,

Rick

Yes, the 1000 prefix is correct for 1971-1973 vans with 1098cc engines & direct change 4 synchro gearboxes.

Australia always stamped the block too, detachable tags weren't legal here

The 1000 series engines were used on the YG2S6 Sedan, YJBAV6R Van and 021A2V2M10 Van.

Engine numbers started at 1000-1001 in Mid 1971 and went to the 1000-5300s in mid 1973.

Because the engine was shared over a few models is hard to estimate your original engine without a van of similar ADR date to compare it to.

The closest I have found to your van is 1000-5086 fitted to a May 1973 Van.

My apologies...the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is 021A2VM10830.

Should have posted the VIN with my inquiry.
