I have just bought an air box for the mk 2 which has the corner cut off ,The mk 1 does not have the corner cut off. According to an expert on minis Timmy all the mk 2 cs had the corner removed to make the air box common for LH and RH drive cars. I was also informed that the air box with the corner cut off was not as high as the mk 1 cs and you had to fit 850 air filters. The air box I have just purchased is the same height as the mk 1 cs .I have paint stripped the air box and the pressings are original no hand modifications 100% sure as I know how to work metal. This means there must have been 3 different air boxes on the cs range. Anyone agree ??

That was discussed on one of your earlier topics, Mk1 was the same thickness as Mk2, and our GT had the thinner one:

Its a bit hard to see yours but i think its a MK1 Airbox. The MK1 has an oval lid. The MK2 has the corner cut off next to the washer bottle.

The other type often used is the Clubman GT airbox. It has the corner cut out like the MK2 however the GT airbox is thinner and the lid has reinforcing rings around the wingnut holes.
