Have found a good solution for anyone looking for the difficult to find reverse switch for remote gearbox Minis. The switch from Guessworks (http://www.guess-works.com/) does the job. As the attached picture shows it comes with the little plunger and also a washer. Easier to attach than the original Lucas switch as the nut is a little smaller and raised so that you don't bind against the gearbox casing with a spanner when screwing in. Delivered cost from the UK works out ~$58.

That is good to see.
I was looking for one about a year ago when Guessworks said they were working on a new version.

If it is at all possible, could pdpsing please measure the height of the unit - i.e. how far out of the gearbox casing does this unit extend?
I have fitted an original switch to my car but the terminals are very close to the oil cooler pipe and risk shorting. This new switch might clear better.
Thanks in advance.

Bill B, sorry for the late response, just picked up on your question. With the washer supplied the switch sits just under 3cm above the gearbox housing

That looks a much better solution than the current (Jaguar?) switch sold by the usual Mini places which doesn't work without mounting mods- plunger too big diameter.

I just bypassed it and ran some wire up inside the gearstick boot to a toggle switch. Just manually turn it on when needed, plus it's good to flash tail gaters.

Thanks "pdpsing". Will check in the morning.
The Guessworks switch does look a well-made item.
