Yes...but you grind the blade thin (carefully so it remains springy) and only use the tip to carefully pick up the iron filings ...it can be a tiresome task but well worth it if you have ever been annoyed by a "sticking" speedo

Blade cross section should look something like this...<>

Of course, the drag cup is aluminium and won't be bothered by iron. And the magnet is out of the way.

That's just it...iron filings can stop the drag cup in its tracks...especially when they are hiding in the gap between the magnet and cup and underneath the cup...be very careful tho...

Aside: a fella I know used compressed air to expunge the iron filings...I was horrified...especially as air lines can be full of water...but he got away with it! :-)

What an awesome read. My odometer stopped turning a few months back, and after reading this, I'm now 100% positive that I'm too scared to pull it apart for a look! :)

Quite interesting particularly the tools. Think I might have a go at repairing a few some time

The only new parts I have found for these speedos is the chrome bezel and the glass. After that you have to rely on everything just being dirty and dried up and needing just a clean and lubricated. Parts have to be cannibalised but they are often worn out too.

Ummmm slightly newer Brit cars or low mileage units can be a source of good parts that can match...not easy, but possible

Another hint...
