Post subject:  Fuel guage question

Should the fuel guage work with the ignition off. My '69 Mk2 S battery is not holding charge if not started for a week or so. On checking the wiring diagram the B terminal on the voltage regulator gets power from the wiper motor. Along with the fuel guage, the wipers also operate without ignition on.
I am wandering whether this is where the battery drain is occurring before I take the battery back to the supplier for warranty.
Any thoughts?

no, it shouldn't work with the ignition off, and yes, that would drain the battery. The +12v wire is connected to the wrong fuse

Alan,
As Simon said, fuel gauge shouldn't work with ignition off, neither should the wipers.

Thanks. All fixed, yes, the 12v feed was connected to the wrong fuse.
