Hello everyone, 8 years since posting, do not know where to put this thread.

A friend has a moke here, getting ready to convert it to electric. Trying to find the year and country of manufacture to make registration easier. Numbers we have so far.

Body: AKFPD28Y 107107
It is 1275cc
Devil Yellow
LHD

Engine and gearbox have been swapped to make it automatic.

Any help will be great, thanks.

In addition to any information you get on here you might try the Moke forum.

Leyland Moke Californian or the prefix range AKxxx18Y was built in Sydney during the May 78 to Oct 79 in which there were three models
1. - Leyland Moke with 998cc engine AKPPB18Y
2. - Leyland Moke Californian with 998cc engine AKFPB18Y
3. - Leyland Moke Californian with 1275cc engine AKFPD18Y

During this period, as with other periods in the moke production BMC and then Leyland engaged in an export drive for the vehicle, your particular vehicle AKFPD28Y with the "2" indicating LH drive would have been one such vehicle.

This vehicle is the first proof I have seen of a LHD vehicle of this model, I have seen LHD drive vehicles in other models. Could you please indicate which country this vehicle now resides.

More details are contained in my book "Australian Mini & Moke - 1961 to 1982" currently listed on Ebay.
