Post subject:  Input gear / bearing 3 synchro

Hi everyone,
Question about input gear and bearings for a 3 synchro box.
Currently fitting a 998 A+ engine to my 850 3 synchro gearbox.
Bearing removal on the gear is obviously a 3 leg puller job once the circlip is removed, but how does everyone remove the bearing race from inside the clutch housing?

When fitting the A+ to my 3 synchro, do I utilise my input gear, idler and primary from the 850 or use the A+ ? Do A+ ones differ?
I'm planning on retaining my pre verto clutch if this helps

On a side note, there seems to be a small chip in one of the the input gears teeth on the extreme outside- see pictures. Will this affect in any way?
Happy to buy if someone has a spare they are willing to sell.

I normally heat up the clutch housing with a hot air gun and the race will drop out after a couple of minutes.

I believe the A+ gears have a different helical angle so you can't mix and match those gears.
Do you know it your 850 primary gear fits your 998 crank? There were 2 sizes for the 850 crank tails. The input gear for a 3 syncro has a longer snout so if you use the A+ gears you will need to space the input one out.
Hope that helps, good luck with your project.

To remove the outer ring of the roller bearing I tack weld a flat washer and bolt inside it, then pull the out with a nut, washer and a driveshaft yoke.
Or you can run a mig weld bead inside it which will shrink the ring.
