We have been asked tonight, when did 850 Wheel Rims go from old English white to Silver Rims?

Sometime in 1962 I think. I had a 1961, with the UK tube frame seats, it had OEW wheels.

Back then (1961-2) they went to thicker centres after the original thin UK ones cracked. These were still rivetted. I think paint colour changed before they went to spot welding.
