Hey all, I’ve just put a long range tank from an LS in the mini after getting it back on the road after a long stint in the shed. The tank had been dry stored for many years. Now every time I go in the garage I can smell fuel and it gets worse as I open the boot. The smell seems to get better when it is nearly empty. Worse part is it’s also venting into the cabin through some speaker holes. Yes I’m about to pull the tank back out and inspect again. I can’t see any leaks? Any one got any tips?

Got the breather hose from on top, down through the boot floor?

Yeah it’s there. I’ll check it out for a split? Might be easier to spot once I remove the tank again

Maybe pinholes in the bottom of the tank? Hard to see...

Being an LS tank it will probably have a pin hole under the tank on the bottom pad.

The English made fuel tanks were more prone to rust than the Australian made tanks, unfortunately the late Australian cars all had English tanks.
