Cam & oil pump (non-side-plate-blocks) were spider-drive

Hi All
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned that the GT blocks had the large welsh plugs 1.5/8 not the small ones like the 1100S blocks had. A real give away.

Speaking of welsh plugs, I give them a plug in the hope they win against the Springboks in tonight's RWC semi-final.

I tend to agree, but since the results from the Ancestry DNA kit I got as a birthday present suggests my forefathers may have come from that part of the world I'll favour them over the South Africans tonight.

Hey, I might even be distantly related to one of the huge bruisers with flat nose and taped ears in the front row.

Are you sure this applies to the 1206 blocks?

GT Blocks -

The same block was used for the 9FXEY, 1200 and 1205 engines. The Casting number was AEG312 & AEG634. These blocks had 1 5/8" or 1.625" welsh plugs. It has the rear tappet covers.

The 1206 engine used the casting number 12G1279 which the more commonly know as the 1100s block. It has 1.326" welsh plugs and a solid rear block.

Most of the 1206 blocks would be in NZ. Fitted to cars from around Dec 1972.
