Probably not as you can re-stamp any old 1100S thick flange block

Here is the engine number, if by chance someone is missing the motor from their car and wants to having matching numbers again.

Chris,
I am interested to know if that block has a hole cast above the center main, between number 2 and 3 cylinders?
Or is it solid cast?
Thanks Dave

I believe that it's only the last of the A Series that didn't have the hole. IE 1275LS and some Mokes

According to data in the Clubman GT Register it was probably originally fitted to a January 1973 car.

I have found thin flange solid side blocks (1100S manual and
auto) without the hole, and thick flange (1100S manual and auto) with.
Which means the hole came later? Me thinks...

I think that Vizard talks about the "holeless" block in one of his books

My spare thin flange block has no hole, I always assumed the hole appeared with the thick flange.I don't remember if my other thin flange block has it or not.

Another question about these engines.
What camshaft and oil pump type did they have?

Ron,
In Dad's it was basically stock 1100S gear but who knows what had been changed since December 1972.
