Coil bind. On my last couple of engine builds I have sunk the valves in the head a little. And used spacers under the valves to restore seat pressure. I just assumed they always had to be there.
Sadly they don’t.
I also continued to use spacers under the rocker posts because I ground 2mm of the top of my first block.

Moral of the story is

Just because we have always done it that way doesn’t mean it’s right.

We could probably even delete this thread ...

Ausmini threads are rarely deleted. There's usually too much good information that would otherwise be lost.

Vigorous debate is fine as long as it doesn't get too personal.

Two mm off the block and/or head doesnt mean spacers under rocker pedestals .
It means pushrods need to be two mm shorter.
The rocker shaft height governs whether your geometry is good or bad.
Have a look as i did about the pattern the roller tip follows on the tip of the valve.
I have custom pushrods and shims to get this right.
The amount the adjuster screw is in or out has a effect also.
Engineers just know this crap We have to study and learn

I also used 1275 valves initially. I’m sure this also had something todo with it
