Haven't posted for a while but today i came across a problem
Maybe someone knows whats going on as my brain already hurts
Went to move the Mini after doing an oil change and had to reverse up a slight grade to release the car ramps from the front wheels
after doing this the clutch pedal would not move and the clutch lever on the engine is sitting in the disengaged position
that is i can start it in gear and it doesn't go anywhere
but i cant push the clutch pedal down, its like it is jammed
has anyone had this same problem and what caused it
Your help is appreciated :?

This happened to me when the nut on the end of the plunger came loose and screwed itself in.

the nuts are tight
i can move the clutch arm on the engine so i think its in the master or slave cylinders
I was going to bleed the slave cylinder to see if it lets the clutch arm retract but my big boof hands wont let me get to the bleeder to fit a tube to catch the fluid
so i might need to move the head brace to make more room

I would start by eliminating things.

1. From inside the car, does the clutch pedal and connection to the master cylinder push-rod look OK (i.e. nothing jammed in the mechanism)?

2. When you press the clutch pedal is there any movement at all of the slave cylinder push rod?

3. Can you lever the clutch operating arm (with a steel bar or similar) to simulate the hydraulic action of the slave cylinder, thus eliminating an internal clutch problem?

4. If you peel back the rubber boot on the slave cylinder can you see any leaking fluid or other issue?

If the clutch is held in the disengaged position, then I expect when you open the bleeder it is going to let the fluid out and release the clutch arm so keep yourself clear of it. I also expect the fluid is going to come out quick, so just crack the bleeder if you can.

And, if that all happens... then I would suspect it is a collapsed clutch hydraulic hose stopping the fluid returning to the master cylinder.

If you open the bleeder and no fluid comes out and it (or very little) and the clutch arm doesn't move - that is the clutch slave doesn't retract.... then I'd guess maybe the clutch slave has jammed/siezed.

In all cases, be careful as you work around it as the clutch linkage will be under the load of the pressure plate, and as soon as you release/unjam/remove/undo whatever is holding it, the clutch will engage.

My thoughts too. I've had this myself.

Well today I investigated the issue further
The problem was a Stuck Piston in the slave cylinder
It was stuck right out near the circlip due to some rust build up
So now to order a new slave cylinder, rubber hose, and steel pipe as i never want to do this job again
also either the engine bay has shrunk or my hands have grown as it was near impossible to work on it :)
