Can anyone shed light on why the face has circular oil lines as opposed to straight cuts?
Are they better in dispersing oil?
Looking to make some oversized ones up and would love to know .

It spreads the oil over the surface better.

Instead of spending $$$ on making thicker washers, why not deck the flange face a little.
Works for me.
I have a whole heap of 0.132" and 0.133" washers here, PM me if you want a few, cheap. 3/4" bore.
Suit A series, not A+.

The other option is to use a thinner gasket (cut from sheet gasket material)- Mine are about 19 thou from memory to make up for a worn thrust face on the gearbox.
Works for me.

Minisport sells a blue gasket which is 27 thou thick.
A standard red/pink one is about 32 thou.

Thanks for the offer Kevin ,
The problem is that I have taken 20thou off the cover housing to clean up a melt down .
So I will need to compensate in the washer for that amount
I haven’t measured it yet but given the existing washers were 131-134 I would imagine I’m up for about 150+thou on one side .
Was just wondering whether straight grooves would disperse oil the same way as they are easier to grind in

A concentric groove will result in an unworn ring on the housing.
Having the grooves eccentric is important. Easy to do with a 4 jaw lathe chuck, if you cannot get this done post them to me. I will do for postage.
Must be before hardening though.
