Hi All,

I'm getting a new carpet set this week and under the current carpet there are the factory studs. I see you can buy the "clip" and "barbed clip" from mini shops, but my question is how to these actually join onto the carpet? Does the barbed part pierce through the carpet from the top and then fold over into the lip part? Is there a trick to lining up the clips?

Studs on my floor:

Tim,
Photo shows original 50 year old clips. The ring with 3 pins/spikes is pushed into the carpet from above and the pins are bent outwards after passing through the holes in the clip. The female clip fastens to the male stud. Used an awl to pierce the carpet after placing it in its correct position.
HTH,
Clive

Thanks Clive. So is the top ring the barbed clips visible from the top side of the carpet?

Tim,
Ring of the clip is marginally visible from above.
They don't stand out in the black loop pile carpet.

My floor has 10 in total. The clip sets available come as a pack of 8 which is a bit strange
2 in front left, 2 front right
2 rear left, 2 rear right
And 1 either side of the handbrake
