Hi Rick,
I have run the 1.5 Minispares forged rockers for 50,000 miles with no problems. Guides are Minispares bronze and still good.
These are early rockers, I suspect the current ones are cast iron based on my machining the tops of some others to seat the nuts properly.

Re the rocker cover oiling problem, I don't have it but have seen this on some engines.
No blower, but I run a Toyota PCV valve from the rocker cover, and I have a 12mm nylon drain pipe from the cover to the flywheel housing flange.
No problems even at 8000 rpm.

G'day drmini
Thanks for the feedback on those rockers (you would hope that if they marketed them as forged then they should be, but nothing surprises me with some of the junk coming from the UK).
The suspect rockers that I have at the moment are the late sintered type which I have read are not the best for wear and they don't have the replaceable bushing.
Hopefully I can pick up a few more ponies with the high lift ones.

I have the clutch breather, rocker breather and timing cover breather (modified for blower belt room), all plumbed with 12mm into one catch can that has two 8mm inlets. It is vented to atmosphere with a 1 inch pipe that I welded to the can and it has a foam style small pod filter on it. No PCV valves. You would think that this would be enough ventilation.
I might remove the foam filter to see if that makes a difference but I doubt it.

cheers
Rick

Sintered rockers wear the hole oval eventually (and I have had 2 break in half).
Perhaps causing your oil problem.
Maybe throw a set of early pressed steel rockers on with a new shaft?
Contrary to the workshop manuals, these can be rebushed.

thanks drmini

I have just fully dismantled the rocker assembly and they are rooted. Way more than fingernail wear particularly on pedestal 1 where the the oil feed comes through meaning that the shaft must have been moving?. Finger nail on the shaft for all rockers and the rocker themselves have a bit also. New rockers to be ordered. The clutch housing breather was also full of mayo which I have cleaned out. Hopefully I can get away without a new head gasket as it hasn't leaked anything so far.

I have also noticed that the rocker holes that I have been observing through the oil fill hole are slightly down hill, as in the engine doesn't sit fully square in the engine bay so those are getting more oil than the rest.

New 1.5 forged rockers on the menu I reckon. Just got to convince the Mrs of the investment.

You can buy them here but it's cheaper to import from Minispares.
If you want 1.5 roller tip ones I'd consider the MED ones for reliability.
They are stronger and have a bigger 17mm shaft.

Not after the rollers, just the forged steel ones. None in stock at minispares uk and the saving after freight is only $30. Minikingdom have them for $310 and Minisport for $325

Put a flat washer next to the exhaust rockers to align them better on a 1275 head. There should be 4 on your sintered ones, unless they came off a 998.

Ok thanks, will do. There wasn't any washers on them apart from the retainers on the ends.
Bit strange as the engine was out of a 1978 1275 LS wreck. They may have changed the rockers at some stage though.

OILING PROBLEM SOLVED.

Just fitted the 1.5 forged Minispares rockers and am very happy with the outcome.
No longer filling the rocker cover with oil and quite a good increase in power (particularly torque). The cam is stock 1275LS specs.
I even have a lumpier idle which is cool. Had to increase the idle speed a bit.

The rocker shaft holder posts were 2mm thinner than the stock ones which meant that I had to add 2 washers
to the inside of the middle 2 posts to line up 2 of the valves.
The outside 2 exhaust valve stems actually sat 3mm outside the rocker pad before adjustment?.
I reversed the small outer springs to fix this. As in, the springs are now against the post and not the washer at the end of the rocker shaft. This lined them up spot on but the pushrods are a bit off centre. Still about 2.5mm clearance to the head though so should be ok?. Seems to be so far.

Thanks for everyone that helped sort out this problem - hopefully this post can help others with the same issue. At the end of the day it was just down to too much wear.

cheers
Rick
