| Post subject: | 2 pack epoxy primer |
I’m making some brackets to fit to my mini project and want to paint them as I go with a primer that is not porous so they don’t start rusting before other areas of the car are finished. From what I have read on here and other research, 2 pack epoxy primer is the answer. However, as I want to do small areas as I go, can you buy 2 pack epoxy primer in rattle cans ? Regards Phil |

I may be a bit out of date with my methods but I've used Dulux Metalshield Metal Primer for many years. It is enamel based and waterproof. Comes in pressure pack or liquid and is relatively cheap. On the recent slow rebuild, most of the inside was painted in this and left for several years before I finally put a 2K colour coat over it without any problems 1 year later. I first used the Dulux primer on the Engine bay and underside of the Mk2, with stoneguard sprayed directly on top. That was 30 years ago and it is still on the panels when everything else has been worn away. |

It comes in two separate cans that you have to measure out the amount of paint and hardener, mix it, put into spray gun and apply. All rattle cans are "1 pack" although no-one calls it that, but may be epoxy, acrylic, lacquer. cheers michael |

Mick I'd have agreed but I saw a similar product to three Eastwood product used in a YouTube I was watching it contains the hardener in another chamber in the bottom of the can. That said once it's mixed you've got to use the whole can within a couple of hours... so it probably doesn't solve the original posters problem of painting as they go. |

Not a 2 pack but I did use some zinc chromate on some of my underside bits on the mini. Alas the paint has been banned due to the chromium content in it and is a cocktail of baddies to stop attack from salt water and marine critters latching onto steel. That said I have never seen a spot of rust on anything that has been painted with it...lol. The down side is coming to recoat it as the dust from sanding is the think that will kill you. I use a paint from a mob up here called planet paints and is recycled paint and not too bad for doing metal parts. Great paint to redo your garage floors and the likes as well. |

I wanted to see someone "air mixing" quick draw style with a can in each hand |

Pretty sure VG auto paints does 2 pack in a funny can now, as fuzzy described. I'm about to find out, I need some Jet Red for a small repair. |

i got a can of matt black mixed in 2 pack rattle can cost $44 painted onto dash trims will last up to 3 days once opened if kept in the fridge wayne |
