Hi all,
Is there any information around as to the service history of minis that were used by the police. Eg sale date, where it did service and when did that service end. Who can I contact for advice please
Thanks for your help

Thanks for your help. I think that I will try to talk to the RMS to see if I can get any number plate details out of them. That might help me a bit about years of service but not the location etc.
I’ll let you know how I get on

I submitted an FOI to RTA (as it was several years ago) and was assured that the 1960's and 70's records of no longer registered vehicles were not transferred to the new computer system so they had absolutely no way of finding those details. Please try in case something has changed.

I have spoken to the current head of NSW Police Highway Patrol at Huntingwood on several occasions in an attempt to find their vehicle history records from back then but, again, if they exist they are hidden away somewhere.

The registration plates were removed from the cars when auctioned so they were sold unregistered.

Yes it looks like those old records were never loaded up into the rta computer system. Thanks for providing that clarity.

I can confirm an old nsw plate number from an old photo but the online search does not recognise it as ever being issued.
So, not possible to search the records.

Interesting though, that the online history report that the rms can issue provides the date of first registration and how many registered operators (owners) and other info
This would be helpful if we could find the vehicle in the system.

If I'm carrying on like a pork-chop, I'm having a great time.

If I go very quiet there's a very good chance I broke something.

Photo credit needs correcting here? Looks more like an 850 rather than a Cooper...UNLESS, they fitted an 850 grill to a Cooper

Yes, I've seen that wrong label previously. Hadn't thought of enquiring on having it corrected. I'll follow up.

Every mini is a “Mini Cooper” to those not familiar.

It’s also missing the bumper corner bars and and the door frame looks body colour so I’m guessing it’s an 850

The photo was taken at the hand-over of the first group of Morris 850's to NSW Police in early 1964.
