Hi all,

I have been building a mini from ground up for the last three years. I am now at the pointy end and need a mechanic/auto elec in/around Canberra who knows minis to take it over the line.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wayne @ Mini Works Australia is not in Canberra, but he's at the bottom end of Sydney and knows his minis

Do you want a mechanic or an auto elect? Or both?

Thanks Simon, I’ll keep that in mind. I just don’t have a tow vehicle and would have to borrow something from work which I’d rather avoid if possible.

Technically both, I have bled the brakes with the Gunson easy-bleed but something still doesn’t seem right. Also the gear linkage is baffling me.
Aside from that, it’s the wiring.

My mini is a frankenmonster so I have a new harness but it won’t really match anything from the manual (which I also have). Electrics is also not my strength :?

Did you not get a wiring listing telling you which end of which wire connects to what? Is it an Australian built Mini or an import? Did you buy the harness from a local maker?
Are you a member of the local club? Someone there may be willing to guide you.

If they are "Mini sympathetic" and know their way around Minis I'm happy to add them to the list of Mini Businesses, but need a clear endorsement.

Doug, both these shops are not afraid of Mini's, but more importantly, are experts at multi-carb, fuel injection etc...just about any auto sparky could sort the loom problems Cheers, Mick

Ben, Mick Wilson from MM knows Mini's well and can probably recommend an auto leccy if your problems need a specialist...good luck, Mick

Hi DavidE, I did but it isn’t a very detailed diagram. To be fare I haven’t tried yet and it might not be that difficult but energy and time are also lacking.
The mini is Australian, harness is from mini sport in Adelaide and I do plan on joining a club once I get it registered. Are you a member?
