I need help.

My fully restored 1970 Mk.II Cooper S was reversed into last Thursday.

The grill, surround, front bumper and oil cooler are all cactus. What else I am not sure but am thinking that the dizzy got whacked as well.

I am insured with Shannons and wanted any advice on who would be best fpor me to take the car to to repair.

The car is at my place in Fitzroy.

I would really appreciate any tips.

Cheers, bam.

Oh no, very sad. :(

A list of Mini Businesses in Victoria is here - viewtopic.php?f=41&t=83593

The one at the top of the list Adrian Read would be a contender for you. Obviously cost and timing would have to be agreed.

Other businesses like Link Automotive, Minis Plus and Mini Spares and Repairs could do the mechanical work and may have contacts for any panel work.

In a similar situation :( I just asked Shannons ... the place they recommended has a top reputation ...and a loooong waiting list for restorations.

For insurance jobs you go to the head of the queue.... and the job was in line with their reputation.. :)

Cheers, Ian

If I was looking for a repairer I would be asking if they can repair the original Apron and not just weld on a cheap repro panel. If you need a grill, mustache, bumper etc - see if they can get NOS or good second hand parts. The repro parts are crap.

If the dizzy got wacked i would make sure it is checked for cracking and bench tested to ensure its not bent. They could just put a new cap on it and in a few months time you could have a flogged out dizzy from a bent shaft.
