Hi all,

I've been trying to sort my set of HS2 carbs but I've had an issue with the throttle linkage..

The carbs look like this. The plate that accepts the linkage arm has a gap of around 8mm

I got a linkage separately and they have pins on the end rather than the flat type. They are about 4.7mm in diameter so they are a sloppy fit into the throttle plate

I bought some new flat type arms and they are the same size

You can see the poor fit here. I am worried this will make it harder to tune, and also give an initial flat spot when applying the throttle

So, does anyone have one of these with the right size hole, or know the name/part number of it? I can't find it anywhere! Or is there a different throttle arm that works with the wide plate on the carbs now? Or are they all like this?

The gap doesn't matter as you have a return spring on each arm, this keeps the arms in contact with the pins.
The gap is intentional.
Previous twin hs2 setups on 850 sports etc used W clips to join the 3 shafts. It was an inferior system.

There is also the provision for the middle spring which makes the middle bar lose contact?

I guess the other thing I hadn’t thought of until now is the throttle cable can take up the initial slack

Yeh the gap is supposed to be there. It allows the butterflys to comeback to closed and gives a bit of freeplay in the throttle cable. Just make sure the pins contact the levers at the same time after you setup the idle.

As it turns out it's written in the workshop manual, and how to adjust it :oops:
"with the pin operating on a forked lever... a clearance must exist between the pin and the fork"

Now I've assembled them and getting ready to fit. Is there anything obvious that I've missed or assembled backwards? I have the brake booster plug and last return spring to swap over from the current manifold. I’ve added two vacuum port spacers in the hope this will make it easier to tune

Also, what’s easier: carb and manifold on at the same time, or bolt on the manifold first and then add the carbs?

I find it easier to keep the Manifold and Carbies assembled when bolting it up
