Dear Bill, I'm writing in as the resident know-it-all dickhead. The clip for the speedo cable is superficially the same as the radiator overflow tube, but they are actually different. The speedometer cable is attached to the front crossmember by a spring clip 5L90 which has an inside diameter of 0.3” and width 0.375” (similar in appearance, but smaller and narrower than the 13/32” inside diameter and 0.5” wide radiator overflow support clips). The original 850 part is specified as a 24" cable, so if one purchases a short cable from a modern day supplier, it will fit as a complete unit, but you can't use the original outer because it will be too short. I sincerely hope no one is offended by this post. regards Tony

I remember them looking the same but I haven't seen a speedo cable clip for many years. Thanks for the clarification.

That's the spirit. The current global health crisis should reinforce the view that life's too short to be precious about posts on a forum. In these times I think it helps to see life's glass as half full rather than half empty.
