You might need something like this...

Because it wasn't a continuous chain, I was able to grind the end off one of the pins and punch it out. It was actually easier than I thought it was going to be.

Can anyone tell what the hole in the centre back of the block is for and what size it is? It seems quite large. I'm thinking of using it to hold the breather hose away from the exhaust.

no purpose that I know of... 7/16 UNF - takes a seatbelt bolt

I use it when lowering a motor onto a gearbox

Thanks Simon for that. I found one that fit nicely.

Looks like a good build. Do you have a power figure in mind?

I'm running 8.5:1 with 120bhp. Fine as is like that, but I'm also running water/meth as an added detonation suppressant for safety margin. 98 fuel.

I don't really have a figure in mind. This is my first build so it is very much a learning exercise. I just want to build something that I can use as a daily driver if I wanted to and have a bit of fun occasionally.

What system are you using for the water / meth you are running? I was thinking of doing that as well but I haven't really looked into it yet.

I'm using Coolingmist stuff with the smallest Snow Performance nozzle to get it low enough volume to suit the Mini while still being a fine spray.

Edit: also no point getting variable pressure/flow kits. At the small nozzle size we need, they hit max volume by about 20% duty cycle. Simple on/off (boost or vacuum triggered) is all you need.

I have bought new pot joints to fit. They look like they are already assembled with the boots in place. They also came with 2 grease packets. Do I need to separate the joints and grease them or do they come ready to fit? If this is the case, what is the grease for?

Are there zip ties/clamps holding the boots on?
If not, I'd peel back the boots and grease them.

If they are clamped on, who knows lol. Hopefully someone can advise, otherwise probably worth asking retailer or taking the boot off one to check.

They have the steel clamps on but don’t appear to be tightened. I did pull one boot back a bit and got covered in oil. Doesn’t look like there is grease in there though

Yep then I'd peel back, fill with grease then tighten clamps. You'd know if they were greased properly, would be obviously caked in greased, not just looking oily.

Hi guys

Morbo, what level of boost are you running to need the meth injection?
I am running up to 15psi with no det problems on 98 and a rich tune.

I tunes it to run safely on 98 alone, then use water/meth on top of that for charge cooling/added detonation suppression. Running 9psi, 120bhp. But of course high flowing head plus cooler charge means that the 9psi is of pretty good volume and pretty dense air.

Like low level boost setups might use an intercooler for the benefits, not just for those bordering on detonation at super high boost.

I was going to retune ignition to take more advantage of water/meth, and/or up it to 12psi boost, but I decided I'd keep it as is (for the moment anyway). Mainly for gearbox durability and because I'm rarely at full throttle. 120 bhp with flat torque curve is good for what I want.

How do you find your setup? What sort of power are you getting and how's drivability and reliability?
