There is an issue with the forum system software or network whereby there is often a delay from the time you press submit to post something and the system responding. Some people think the system hasn't accepted their post so they press submit again, and sometimes again. The result is the same post appearing multiple times.

Mick is looking into the reason for the slow response but, in the meantime, be aware of the situation and wait a few moments after submitting something so as to avoid multiple posts.

I routinely use mod privilege to delete extra posts when I see them. ;)

Fair cop Gov; I plead guilty.
I thought that I had included a picture when I "Submit"-ted a quick reply and then discovered that I could do it using "Full Editor".
Can I plea bargain my way down to Six months in isolation and no loo paper?

DAve says its tied to the venerable age of the phpbb forum platform causing a number of IO errors in and out of the server, but not the server itself. He suggests a new software platform is used like BuddyPress.

Let's see if it settles down, it might be a contribution of individual personal computer updates as well.

Sooooo....the software is getting a little old now, and the 2014 era phpbb needs to be upgraded. This will take some weeks to warm into, let alone make (Any one know anything about WordPress?). So you all might need to just hold on. Go easy on the posts, let the page sit a while if it doesn't go through straight up.

Thought it worth re-posting this message to remind everyone to pause after submitting a post. There isn't a quick and easy fix to eliminate the delay.

I remove any surplus posts when I see them but always best to avoid duplicates in the first place.

An update to this issue.

A permanent fix is costly and time-consuming so we have no choice but to live with it for now, but there is a workaround.

When you hit Submit your post is accepted virtually immediately. The delay is related to the time it takes for the system to respond, confirming to you that your post was successful.

The workaround to avoid having to wait is to simply select another function a few seconds after Submit, such as View your posts (top right of the page).
