Saturday arvo... about 1pm.
Gold Coast highway, Miami.

Bright yellow... very nice paint and 13" sunraysia rims I think it had on.

Hopefully the owner is on the board... need to get together for a cruise!

I would say its a van chop. You'd be a very lucky man to own a genuine factory ute.

Youngish bloke driving it. Qld plates so I hope to catch up with the owner.

Only genuine ute I've seen on the road was a yellow UK one that Mini Kingdom brought in years ago. I think they put a UK MK2 grille in it.

I do know of another real UK one in Newcastle, but it's not on the road... yet.

Find out who it is and then see if it is a Ute and not a van chop But still It would be a nice runabout.

You did say Leyland Ute - so you mean a square nose?

As far as I can recall Leyland never offered a Ute derivative in Oz. Pretty sure it has to be a Van chop.

My late father told me about a factory in Sydney that had mini utes for pulling trailers around the factory (semi trailers). He told me this in the early 70s so it must have been in the late 60s. He said that they were proper utes and they were imported for the job. So there were some mini utes in Aus but not many!

I saw this on Christmas day when I was heading to lismore. Very nice, is a van chop. Very well done tho. Has tinted windows and white "chaser" looking rims on it... Maybe late model FWD rims? Tried to get a snap of it but it took off too quick!

Yeah, I was on the bike at the shops here in Mermaid near Pizzy Park, and he parked beside me. Bailed him up but he wasn't very keen to talk. Warmed up a bit when I said I had a van at home. 1100 in it, van chop. I didn't like the rims much myself. It's a neat little unit tho. That was probably mid November.
