Guess what we saw in Singapore when we least expected to? 2 UK Clubman. The first we saw was an immaculate yellow one with wide minilites and flares. it was fantastic. the other was a red one with standard wheels and a bit tatty. only got pics of the first as we saw the other one when shopping on orchard road, and did not have the camera. managed to completely miss the side on pic as we passed the yellow in the traffic, but got the front and back shots. sorry about the reflections, but i tried to shop them out as best i could.

already back Duc. yeah humidity is a killer. hope those minis had a/c.

yeah mad, i was not expecting to see many older cars at all due to the expense of keeping a car in singapore, and the fact that car ownership really did not take off in volume until mid 70's there. but we also saw a couple of 70's beetles and a 70's kombi, plus a late 70's datsun skyline (240K) sedan. the old ricemobile of choice seems to be the starlet GT.....
the rest of the cars were all less than 5 yrs old

Singapore has a decent Mini Club. I know one of the guys that set up the club over there. He has been over here a few times. He was actually a judge at one of our early MINISHOW's. His name is Victor Chan. He has a mini of course. He told us about the costs involved just to be able to keep the old cars on the road. The government charge thousands per year for him to register his car.

Jan, you should tell him that one of his members (probably) is famous here now :D it would be great to have some of those guys on this forum if they are not already.

Here are some comments from mCm.

I think you need to be a member to view (it's worth joining anyway). We have some members from Singapore on mCm. They have commented on this clubby and others in Singapore.

I lived in Singapore for three years and went to a few mini events (didn't own a mini over there). There is quite a healthy Mini scene in both Singapore and Malaysia. The local club is the Singapore Mini Enthusiasts Club.

You do see them on the roads occasionally but it is pretty rare unless there is an event on.
