After a bit of on-line sleuthing:-

1) It's Hay's Garage, Tenterfield

Cheers Wakka :D

Thats a great lead so thank you.
The Tenterfield Star may well just have some old photo's of the 60's and 70's.
All in the way it was spelt - which is interesting cos I'll go check the Owners hand book.
Thank you to all the people who have helped on this one.
A trip really looks in order. :D

Another option is the local historical society, that is often attached or know by library staff. See if Tenterfield has a public library. The staff may also be able to do the research on your behalf.

Hi Doug :-)
Thanks for the advise and I've emailed the Historical Society in Tenterfield.
So I thought I need to relocate my paper work when I tracked down the first owner in Australia.
I really need to learn how to place photo's on the forum :-)
I have two mint invoices from Hay's Garage. Dated 1972. plus a number of others.
J. G. HAY, M.I.A.M.E. & R. M. RHODES - Prop. Authorised BMC Dealers.
34 ROUSE Street Tenterfield 2372 Phone 341
Also three photos of the car around the same time. Rego plate number BEN 791 ( would really like to have that )

Try Myplates .com and see if they have that plate available, I got the original ones for my 68 s . pretty sure it was called a custom plate and I got it in yellow with black letters and it looks just like original ,
Cheers.

You'll need a currently registered car in NSW to obtain any plates though! Otherwise maybe one of these eBay people can make you a copy if they post to NZ?

Hi timmy201

Thanks. I tried my plates.com and yes I couldn't make it happen for what ever reason.
Thanks for the tip and I'll give that a try.
All help is very much appreciated :-)

Pete.

Thanks for checking that out. :(
I will look at some ways of getting one made just for the Garage wall that looks original.
Had a reply from the Tenterfield Historical Group and they have offered to find some photo's and history of Hay's Garage. :)
