Hi Matt,

These tyres are unbelievable.

They have different compound rubber across the the tread face - harder in the centre and softer on the shoulders with 6 ply nylon sidewalls (very stiif but not tto stiff). The compounds have a high silica content so they are excellent in the wet. Really good stuff. The only thing comparable would be the A032's or Continentals from the UK or maybe Hoosiers from the 'States - all available in 13's.

But sorry Matt, Sp9000's dont come in 12's. :cry:

are Yokohama AO32R illegal for road use in AU? they come in 13" wheel sizes as well (although choices are limited to 175/60R13 77H or P215/50R13 84V...i am guessing the latter would only be an option on 13x8's)...and look pretty funkay...

I have ran Ao32r's in 10inch and i thought they were the camels humps, awesome traction in the wet and dry. I will definetley use these again when my car is finished.

How come everyone uses 12 or 13 instead of 10s, is it down to traction or looks.

I will never change from 10s, i just love the way a mini handles on the wheel size it was designed to use.

A032R's are great if you have the $$$ to replace them as often as you will with a hybrid car..

We can't run 10's because we need big brakes by law ;)

Yes i forgot.
1 wheelspin off the lights and back down the tyre fitters.
Bigger brakes is probably a good law.

according to tirerack.com the yoko A032R's arent that much worse in terms of wear than the dunlops...the yokos rate 6.0 and the dunlops rate 7.1...but the yoko's crap all over the dunlops in the actual performance categories...you can also get the A032R's in a H (for hard) compound which according to yokohama makes it last longer than the same tire in the S (for soft) compound version...

Alrighty..havn't updated here for a while, but the frame is now 95% completed..

Here is a shot of the engine mounts tacked on, just need to weld them up and drop the engine in one last time to be sure, then i'll clean it up and get it powdercoated.

Probably a charcoal grey colour...i'm going to do the wheels the same colour at the same time..

Good idea to get them done at the same time :idea:

1. cheaper in bulk
2. I got my mags coated 2 years before my subframe,
and they're a slightly different shade. Same colour, same company :?

It's not noticable once fitted to the car, but I'd get the lot done at once, including any little brackets etc.

Thanks for the tip..i might get the grill done while i'm at it.. :)

Still have to get all the parts i've ordered..guages..PWR water to air IC, fuel pump..

Driveshafts..

Brakes..

Wiring/Computer...

But the subframe and engine should be ready to bolt up soon.

I'm aiming for July to have it in..

Thats a good question... I assume just getting an engineer to check the welds is good enough? Did you weld yours Josh?

Speaking of which anyone got a MIG welder they want to sell??
