Project looks great, well done.
Here's the frames I made for my seats if it's any help.

Is there any plans for the front end bodywork?
I figure you'll have the radiator up the front, it might be an opportunity to improve standard airflow with a big bonnet duct for air to exit after going through the radiator, sort of like lotus Elise bonnets do.

Yeah that! I remember it coming up in a discussion on here about the mini's aerodynamics, done properly it could help clean up a problem area near the rear of the bonnet / front of the windscreen.

I do like a bonnet duct and the RS3 LMS is my favourite as it almost looks factory.
While my project is going to be different I don’t want to go too far away from the mini body when it’s finished. Similar to my VTEC mini it looked like a cooper sport pack from the outside but underneath was another story.
The front will hold the radiator, fuel tank and battery at this stage.
I think I will need some additional weight to keep the front wheels down but not sure yet.

It starts talking about IDF carbs but got off-topic a little in a good way, the carbon wheezel link in that thread might also be worth looking at again, it has some stuff relating to gaining front down force.

Trying to think of a stealthy or low key way to manage it...

Cheers thanks.

Each day I work on this car a new challenge is thrown at me.
The MX5 su frame is going to interfere with the turbo so I’ve adapted and going to make my own frame.
Here’s some pics of what I got up to on the weekend. Not much other than ally of measuring and procrastinating until I pulled the trigger.

Is it possible to move the turbo to a better location if it means the suspension / frame will be less compromised?

I guess it is possible however it wasn’t the only reason why I changed tact. The overall look and structure would probably look like a bitsa. So this will clean it up.

So just to confirm, it's a WRX engine/drivetrain and rear subframe with MX5 suspension geometry?

I've been thinking some more about trying to achieve a bonnet vent without it being too in your face. I'm wondering about a mechanism that pivots most of the flat part of the bonnet down from the back of the bonnet to meet up with ducting through the cooling package.
When the car isn't running it's up in the usual mini position and pivots down once the engine is running or at a particular speed or temperature.
The trick would be hiding the cut line, I remembered some rally minis have a blacked out section on the curve at the front of the bonnet a similar thing mighty disguise the cut line, sort of like 33ejb has.

It would depend on what sort of look you were going for, and it is a fair bit of effort to go to, but the sleeper aspect appeals.

Yes that’s correct. Subframe is now custom using the lower and upper MX5 control arms

I love your enthusiasm for this bonnet duct.
At the moment I’m just trying to get around the engine subframe and suspension.
Keep your ideas coming though.
