Can anyone confirm if the following is a T25 Turbo.

Markings are as follows: Garrett A/R 80 Also has M24 cast on it. As well it has J25 cast in a small circle. Exhaust side has J27 on it.

Also can anyone tell me what too much saft play is like. Or what the min should be, Is it side to side or in and out???

Dan

Dan do you have any pictures of it? Sounds like a ca18det t25 of a silvia. Shaft play on the nissan t25's should be around 1mm for a really good one, no more then 2mm side to side. Make sure the fins have no cracks or chips on it and it spins freely.

If it seems all ok just put it on and see if it blows smoke, if it does seals are probably gone.

For the 4efte, the best t25 to get is the T25G from the early model SR20 engines from the silvias and 180sx. These have a oil pressure limiter built in so it stops to much oil getting pumped in it. The normal t25 you find on ca18det, 200sx sr20 etc dont have this and tend to blow smoke when put on other engines.

Get a pic up and ill tell you what you have.

Brad,

Thanks for the info. When i got the turbo it felt like it had no shaft play, Then i kept fiddling with it and the oil ran out of it and now it seems to have minimal play, less thean 1mm. The guy who sold it to me (importer) said it looked like it had been reconditioned.

I suppose I'll see how I go when i install it.

I will try and post photos tonight (still learning).

Dan

It looks very similar to my T25g.... Not sure how many other t25's came out with that type of bolt on inlet and bolt on outlet front cover.

Thats definately a T25g otherwise known as a T28 and the flanges on the compressor indicates the SR20 it originated from is a a rwd model unlike the bluebird and Gtir whch do not have a flange.

I have one here of a gt20. Same as the t25 ones but is adjustable. Will get a pic of it tomorrow for you.
