I know there are a couple done/in the works but I can't remember seeing anywhere how these guys went about getting it through the engineering & rego hoops.

To those that have done it or are in progress how have you done it and what would you do differently?

Engineering is all a bit subjective I believe. One might be happy with one thing whilst another may not. The guy who will be engineering mine engineeres alot of work that my frame builder does. He took a couple of photos. Will take a couple more photos when the car is going. Write up a report, and put it in his file never to be seen again. I understand that Andrew (Archangle) had to jump through quite a 'few' hoops. I've never found out why his process is so much different to mine tho. Ii often wake up in a cold sweat that maybe I'm not doing it right......

Funny thing is, I read the thread about the 998 dude in Redcliffe and he just got his blue plated. They probably just looked at is as an engine substitution, though strictly speaking i'm sure it needs a modification approval from Qld Trans.

I spoke to keith at KCF rallysport about this before i aquired my subframe from a guy in sydney, but i showed the frame to the guy who done the blue plate, about 16 months ago when i first got it, and he was well impressed with its design..

when everything was done, i went back to the workshop, he went over it up on the hoist, took it for a drive took him over an hour or so and he done the blue plate for chassis modification, engine/gbox etc.. im not to sure what the codes are, id have to go have a look, but theres 4 on there...

A lot of the subframes I have seen have the front removable to make it easy to work on exhaust, change oil filter etc etc. Have you guys done this?

I reckon it'd be best to not have it removable, in an attempt to make the subframe as rigid as possible.

Mine is remove-a-bubble. When its bolted up and in the body my thoughts are that it ain't going anywhere. If you don't make it removeable you've got to do something funky with the bottom panel. Or.....you leave the front of the frame standard and have very little clearance for the oil filter and exhaust. I don't fancy having to lift/remove the motor do to an oil change.......

Good point. Having not seen the clearances in question that was a stupid thing to say. I think i'll just shut my pie-hole next time

I guess that's the good reason why most of the pics i've seen have the front bit removable
