If it was me....I would leave it plain brown wrapper....in the olden days they were called Q Cars...or sleepers nowadays

The look on the faces of the high priced performance car people is priceless....I will never (ever, ever) forget the times we had in a mates full-house FC 3/4 race dunger that we used to regularly hose off Porsches etc

You got a vent line from the tank?
Tank must be non vented cap!

Yes. Vent line must end up in your little black charcoal cannister.
I believe the later model UK cars had non vented caps, but have not seen them myself.

If your engineer isn't pushing for it, I wouldn't worry. Mine did - was one of the first things he told me. I made up a custom alloy tank - there's no replacement for Moke top fill lids anyway

Thanks Dan, much appreciated. Yeah getting close now. I have done the strut brace that my engineer required (goes from the firewall to the lefthand engine mount) and started putting in the electrics today. What a mess :? :D

Matt,

I am a bit suprised about the strut that your engineer made you put in considering all the bracing in your subframe ( you seem to have the most out all the efte mini's) anyway I suppose you have to keep the engineer happy. Is the brace rubber mounted or direct fix to the firewall?

Dan

Yeah Dan I certainly didn't think it was a weak subframe! If anything it is a little overengineered. He said it was mainly about making the subframe last a decade instead of 3 years. That mount is right at the end of the right spar so is under more load than anywhere else in the sufbrame so the strut just gives it that little bit more oomph (technical term  ). I have put a rubber pad between the strut and the mount. The picture below of the finished product gives a better idea...

Completely overstating the blindingly obvious, but, start by trying to "dress" the loom as it was in the front cut....once its all laid out....then look at ways of clipping it to firewall etc...have fun :D

Mick, yeah that is pretty much what I have done the trouble is I am trying to remember something I did in late July 2004! But tonight I managed to isolate the leads for the starter motor and the alternator which were the two biggies. And it looks like my number tags are working. I should have most of it in over the weekend!
