Hey everyone
Just telling everyone about my starlet 4efte conversion. The car is a 1972 leyland clubman thats in pieces at the moment. Just buying shiny bits for it and putting it together slowly.
Heres some pics so far.
The front blue one and the black one are mine
Image
The wheels itll have when its done, thinking bare carbon miglia style arches over them
Image
Now as it sits
Image
Plans are to convert it to coilovers and fit it with buckets, harnesses and a cage. And a shiny black respray to match the wheels. Though some stripes or leaving the bonnet red arent out yet.
The aim is to have a road legal 13 second mini that can turn. Looking forward to it very much.
Anyone who wants to say anything id appreciate the feedback.
More updates soon.
Joe

Congratulations on taking the first step.

Where abouts in Brisvegas are you??

Cheers,

Yeah, that isnt too far, just up the highway.
Ive read your el gato thread, that is one nuts mini. Id like mine to be pretty similar to it. Except probably not with the bodykit. And just a cage and buckets inside.

Thanks Joe,

Still working on completing it.

Looking forward to having another Starlet-Mini in Brisbane.

Good luck with it all and let me know if you need any help.

Cheers,
Tricky.

Hi everyone,
Did a bit more work today, Got the front subframe off and stripped the old drum brake hubs off that.
Engine bay before we started
Image
Original subframe looks in pretty good condition, just dirty. A karcher fixed that pretty easily.
Image
And the new hubs fitted on the old subframe. Very much liking the look of the new brakes.
Image
My not yet shiny brakes, fresh off the plane from the uk
Image
Theyre being reconditioned with new pistons, seals and a freshen up atm.
Everythings going pretty smoothly atm, but not thought about electrics so its going to get a lot worse i think lol.
Got to love uni holidays to get stuff done.
Thanks for reading.
Joe

Hey everyone,
Big moment in the build happened today. I took delivery of a complete starlet GT. Bit of accident damage (entire shell is crooked and smashed), but the car is complete and was roadworthy.

Sorry about the bad photos. Will take better ones if people are interested.
Other than that ive got the shell on a pallet with castors (greatest thing ever, makes it so easy to move)
Got my shiny brakes back, needed to respray them after a terrible job by the reconditioners
Next thing to get is a subframe then find a 6 speed manual and an lsd (Tricky thanks for enlightening me they existed lol, i wonder how many builds you have inspired)
Thanks for reading,
Joe

Good score on the Starlet Joe, it'll have everything you need.

I will keep my ear to the ground with regards to the 6-speed and the LSD.

Cheers,
Tricky

Just a quick update.
Ive been planning stuff and saving.
Ive dropped the subframe off to Tricky to be converted to suit a 4efte.
Thanks again Tricky.
And i picked up the next part of the build, a 6 speed manual to suit a 4efte.
Image
Just need to get the engine out of the starlet i have and get cracking with the body preparations.

What is the final drive ratio of the 6 speed?
Most of the 6 speeds I have looked at, 6th is the same ratio as 5th in a 5 speed so no gain. Just makes the gears even closer which would be too close, the 5 speeds are close enough.

Its got a 4.3 i believe, but not taken it apart to check it.
The 6th gear is the same as the 5th, with more gears closer together in between.
