The moving has begun, can't post a pic of the new build space yet as it is still full of someone elses stuff, but be warned, it WILL make you all jealous!!! So was loading the rear subby into the trailer before and couldn't resist taking a few pics of my dead sexy wheels.   Now I wontt be tripping over the subframe anymore, it has been tied to my workbench since I rebuilt it 2 years ago... Madmorrie |

It's a full face-palm do'h moment for me every time I see your wheels - THEY LOOK HOT - I turned a nice set down a while back thinking they'll never look any good...... wrong wrong wrong

Well, in between holidays and christmas and time with rellos and lots and lots of grass mowing... I did find some time to finish the sill repair. I managed to get a complete new reproduction sill panel from the UK which has actually fitted on quite well. Then I was lent a spot welder which made the finished job much better and meant i could fit the entire panel, rather than having a join line somewhere. Anyway pics tell it better so...  Removed whole sill panel, not too bad underneath.      Scored this on loan from a teacher friend. Should help a lot.  Spot welder goes a long way to making an invisible repair.  Sadly I couldn't replicate this underneath as there was limited access so I had to get the most ridiculous parcel sent to me. Its a 300mm half inch bar of copper.  So I could do this. Which actually worked quite well, but some of the metal underneath was a bit rustier and the spot didn't like it. So I ended up having to do seam welds anyway.  Does a nice job this torch, when you get good at it...  Re-done jacking point.   Not too shabby. Next is tackling the last of the bad bits. The passenger side firewall. Hopefully it wont be too bad since I have already done the other side of this triple panel rust-fest. Madmorrie |

BTW, John at Mini King has some Morris 1100 sills, I think they are right hand side. |

Thanks all. Yeah, progress is good. I'm hoping to at least get it together and running for the engineer to do his bit before he retires. I doubt it will be painted, just so long as it's engineered. rathcoole - sill came from UK ebay and was about $150 to my door. Not too bad I thought. Am still trying to decide if I should order the inner guard 'trumpet' panel thing or try to make one. No one will see that when it's finished so I might try to make one first. Madmorrie |

I just found it on UK ebay. Don't think it was a specialist, just someone who had them left over. There are a few panels on there from time to time... |

With the sill repair pretty much finished I then tackled the dreaded "firewall triple-hell rust trap of doom!!!!" This was mostly a case of the same as the other side just with larger holes cut. Not finished yet but braced so it doesn't move for a good reason... Pics of sill repair.   YUCK, you can see why it needs doing.      Don't worry, I put the rusty side out and hit it with a decent dose of rust converter after that. It's pretty much all welded on and waiting for the 3rd and final closing panel inside the engine bay. Like the other side, this will be modified from standard slightly to allow a larger drain hole so I can hose it out from time to time to stop it all happening again. Well I hope. |

And now for tonight's efforts. First I levitated the bodyshell.  While gently reversing trailer underneath.  It sits on top quite well with some specially slotted blocks locked into the sill seam.  A bare shed for the first time in a long while...  Tomorrow we head to the new project space where unloading should be much less hassle... |
