I think the main effort for next little while will be coming up with a lot of unexciting brackets to hold all the random stuff I’ve now jammed in here.

Image

Example A… Yes it looks weird, but it’s rigid enough and hold the fuses such that they are accessible through the glove box.

So, having spent a day or two in there working out where the loom wants to sit, I've been able to get it supported mostly using the original tabs on the body so far. I've covered them in heatshrink as an extra protection for the loom. Will add some cable ties in spots to make sure it doesn't move. I've found a few earths in the loom so far, and made a good, solid earth point up behind the dash. It all seems to be working ok.

Then, and lot’s of thanks go to Mearcat here for his excellent document decoding the starlet wiring loom, I made up a rear loom that goes to the lights. So with that done, and it getting dark, I just needed to test out my work.

Very Ghetto battery setup.

But, no smoke and the dash lights work.

And stop tail and indicators!! After 10 years something on this car works!!

Thanks all for the kind comments. Will try to post a new update soon, but its mostly building boring and weirdly shaped brackets at the moment. However they allow things to happen, like today I got it to turn over, and heard the fuel pump for the first time as well:) Bought some fuel to put in it too, but I've decided I need to at least fit exhaust gaskets before I try to fire it up. The rest of the exhaust would probably help also.

Work has been progressing sporadically. So here's what's happened over the last few months contained into bite size pieces;)

Designed this

Brilliant conversion so far...BUT, I'm very concerned...have you looked into mixing British Lucas Smoke with incompatible Nipponese smoke of doubtful origin :?:

It gets worse! The history of Toyota started in 1933 with the company being a division of Toyoda Automatic Loom Works devoted to the production of automobiles under the direction of the founder's son, Kiichiro Toyoda! :D

That it is, there are a few options if you want to tidy up your prints, there is a paint on stuff that I have forgotton what it is called (will check when I am home) or you can make an asetone atomizing system but thats a little harder and you get a little bit of loss doing it.

Might be a good idea to place a thick, hard insulating cover/panel/block behind the isolating switch to insulate the terminals...if something drops onto the terminals it could get very exciting

Not to mention (heaven forbid) if a tow bar comes a visiting and drives the switch back against the panel etc...
