I did a couple of hrs stripping the engine bay on the charade today, there are 4 engine mounts on it and they look like they will be fairly easy to incorparate into a new frame. There is about 50% of the wiring compared to the 4efte, driveshafts look pretty close to equal length to :D

I have found a turbosmart bov, turbosmart boost controller, rx7 injectors, vl turbo fuel pump and microtech computer is a mtx8. Only mods i will do is new exhuast manifold to put turbo nice and close to the motor and down low, and maybe fit a bigger throttle body from an applause as the stock one is about 30mm haha.

yep get the shell next saturday yeeha. I have pretty much got the cb70 motor out and got my mini front frame sorted with hilos, new cones and camira brakes.
Bloody hell having a normal job it is hard to find time for the project but i want to have it at least together ready for dismantling and painting by xmas.

Brad and I went to pick up the new shell for his 14secmini project on sat from Simon (skssgn) down near the victorian border.

It was a very cold morning though i was informed that it would reach 20 at some point!

Fog was everywhere
Image

We encountered a slight problem with out trailer and it's wheel bearings near yass so a couple hours in we stopped in there to see if we could get some help..

Image

One place said they couldn't help cause they would have to order the bearings in from Canberra - there was an autopro across the road

Came upon this place which was happy to help:

They had cool dogs

Here's brad taking the hub off:

They had a cool charity bash car out the front..

It was still foggy when we left Yass

Then it cleared up 8)

We saw a little morrie clipping the curb..

Then came the mini 8)

We carried it onto our trailer:

Simon carried the subframe:

Early trumpets that are welded

3 Men all happy. Left to Right (Simon's Dad, Brad, Simon)

On the way back a volvo held us up - 90 in a 110

Brad was tired (note the laughing)
Image

I was surprised how green it was on the way down :)
Image

We made it home and in one piece after leaving a 5am - a wheel bearing change and back by 7pm

Unloaded everything:

A quick check to see if it will fit. all looks ok.

Brad will have it running next week

Can't wait to see this thing done :)

That looks like a nice shell Brad.

Good work to you guys (and you too Simon!).

Look forward to having it all in and running next week.

Cheers,

A BIG thanks to Simon and his old man for the shell. Also a big thanks to josh for coming down with me and helping out. Shell looks pretty good, couple of little holes in the floor i will fix up but looks like a good base to start with.

Should have the motor in the bay next week and start making up a frame, hoping to have it rolling ready for paint end of this year, but funds and time will be the major hold up now.

Dan not to sure on colour yet, anyone got some suggestions?
