Wow, this is looking great. Can't wait to see it finished.

And I love the colour, everytime I see this car I second-guess my colour choice and I want to go a metallic colour instead of solid.

Good luck with the built, you could have built both your cars in the time it's taken me to do mine.

This is undoubtedly the best conversion I have ever seen. A 4EFTE or a Vtec looks like a conversion. Intercooler pipework aside, this looks like something the factory installed.

I wish I could find one of these engines. All the ones I have seen so far are either overseas or still in a complete Charade. :(

wuss, Brad bought a whole car - reckon you'd get in too much trouble for bringing a car home, but can slip a motor in unseen?

(that's what I do)

I could get away with either.

I was looking at a complete Yaris donor last week for $1000 and Sarah said "offer him $500". I reminded her that we had nowhere to store it, so she said "So what? Park the MR2 out the front then."

The part that Sarah does not understand is the many, many hours in the shed doing the conversion. That's when I'd face resistance.

There was a complete charade with a CB70 on eBay last week. It got one bid at $1800 and didn't sell. The guy wanted $3500 which is way too much for a donor in my opinion. But it was complete, tidy, running and registered, so it was too good for that fate anyway.

There was an engine on Trademe (New Zealand) a week or two back, for $450. But it would be costly to get it here. :(

Yes, she is great, and I wouldn't trade her for the world.

But basically, she doesn't mind me spending money on cars. She doesn't like me spending time on them.

My job takes a lot of time, and I often work funny hours. When I am home I have Mister almost-4 and Miss almost-1 around, and Sarah would rather I spend time with them.

Can't blame her really. Grinders, welders and three year old boys don't mix very well.

Maybe I just need a new job...

Cheers,

yes but grinders welders and young teenage boys do mix. what an awesome project to be done in a few years time as a first car for your son.

my dad and i restored a car for my first car, times spent on that are some of my best memories of him.

i recently re-bought that car after selling it 7 years ago....

Hello, I've been following this thread for a while. The work looks great so far and I think the engine makes for a fantastic combination. Any further updates?

There are one or two members in England racing in various championships or sprint events and others in NZ. Some of these cars are over 220 BHP which is a great power to weight ratio.

It looks like you have everything well covered!

My car is over on the owners club website, although still not finished!

gtti89 from NZ often uploads his racing videos.

Good luck,

Luke

Wow, that's less than half the A-series!
