I finally got my JDM SPI Mini registered and was driving it for about a week before my theoretical talent overwhelmed the practical limits of grip and I experienced some terminal understeer. But I'm okay, not scratches, no bruises or cuts, I wasn't sore at all. I can't say so much for the Mini, it is going to be a write-off, so we will see what I'll get for it, but I want to get it back for some parts. I've been having too much fun at the track in the Super 7 and bombing around back roads and I forgot that the Mini just won't do what the 7 will.

It's good you're still OK after the accident! Hopefully you can get it back to take off the parts you need.

Ferrari update. Progress has been slow, mostly gathering parts, making parts, and sanding parts to prep them for paint.

Image

At some point I'd like to remove the stock injection system and replace it with these Toyota ITB's and Ferrari manifolds I bought.
Image

I started making some euro replica fiberglass bumpers, but it was taking so long and I decided to buy some. However when I got them they required a lot of work as well. They were very angular, so I cut off the parts I didn't like and cut up part of my first prototype bumper and I'm going to mate them together to make a nice bumper.
Image

I bought some of the Euro lenses for the front bumper lights and some optional foglights. I also decided to replace the stock Nardi steering wheel with a similar deep dish suede Nardi.
Image

Original on the left, new one on the right.
Image

Here is the new wheel installed and also the new upgraded fuse box under the right side of the dash with the cover currently off.

Super 7 update. Mostly just driving the most connected driving experience ever!

At the track with a friend's Hayabusa powered Super 7.

I'm upfront and he is following me.

And here I'm following him the best I could until part of a roll of blue shop towels got loose in the car.

In a moment of weakness I bought this. I wasn't looking but it was a great deal and I like the way they drive. I'll probably use it as my winter beater this year. 1987 944S, 16 Ventiler, five speed. A friend of mine is nice enough to so some work on it so I don't get distracted from my other projects. And I pay him with time in the driver seat of the Super 7, it's a win win!

I've been painting up some of the bits while it's apart.

that's why you're meant to remove all loose items from the car!!

'busa powered car (or driver) doesn't go around corners as well, but it does take off in a straight line

After a few laps of hard cornering oil is coming out through the crankcase ventilation system. And ends up dripping when I park it so I had the towels handy. But it really isn't good to have them in the car. And that extra 80 horsepower seems to makes a difference in the 'Busa car. He has also been making some changes to the car and still figuring the handling out. I'm heading to the track again on friday evening for some more fun in the Super 7! Hopefully I get some good footage with the GoPro.

How did you go about sourcing the JDM mini?

I talk with Craig at Hunter Classic Sports cars, I tell him what I want, what I want to spend on it, and he has connections in Japan that can buy cars from Japan at auction. If we win the auction, and I transfer the funds, Craig's guy takes in care of everything in Japan as far as paperwork and shipping the car to Canada. Then it goes through Customs and gets dropped off at my house. Then I prepare the car for a vehicle inspection which it has to pass before you can register and insure a car here. When I bought my Super 7 the car showed up at my house within a month. Getting through the inspection and dealing with the paper work is the biggest hassle. I bought an MX5, a Mini and the Super 7 through him. But he brings in a few Minis every year.

Well lets see...
I am driving the Porsche 944S as my winter beater, it's fun, but it's not a keeper.
Image

I sold the Mini I smashed up and I told my spare Traveller to a shop in Vancouver BC that is going to restore it.

I picked up some new wheels for my 308.
Image

And then I decided I didn't have a V12 in my life and thought I better do something about it. So I bought this at a Japanese auction and had some help through Hunter Classic Sportscars again.
Getting delivered.

But I decided to lower it and put some different wheels on it to make it a little more me. No, I am not part of the Yakuza.
