Might have to put some more members in then i guess...

As for the connection at the bottom of the towers - the top plate continues on for around 60-70 mm, it's just that the side plates stop and it looks as if it's just butted up!

Cheers for the comments guys

Still that's only 3mm at best holding it together. Maybe try some rectangle or triangular gussets off the sides running back that 60mm. That will make it a bit of "C" section running back 60mm which is a hole lot stronger in any situation.

Try and bend some flat steel, it's easy.
Try and bend some right angle much harder but with some side load it will give way.
Try and bend some "C" section and even with the sidewards forces it will still hold strong.
The next best is obviously box section (but a bit of over kill in this situation IMO).

Done this now... thanks for the comments guys....

As for totally random subject, what are peoples thoughts regarding the types of mirrors on Clubbys? I'm thinking about getting bullet mirrors, but not sure that i really like the look of them on a Clubby... Are there other new mirrors out there? i've got the square type in black plastic - which i don't really like cos they're cheap and nasties!

Bullet mirrors look the best, but make sure you get the ones with the extended arms, and mount them in a sensible place.

Stainless steel Tex mirrors (rectangular) suit clubbys I reckon, keep with the square theme of the clubby.

I agree with the square ones on second thought, I've actually been considering swapping for a square one. Want to buy my bullet mirror? lol

I'm trying to see what others have done radiator wise - trauling through 50 page threads is getting a bit old!

Can anyone thats done a custom radiator please point out some pics?!

I've measured the area mine needs to go in and it's only around 450 x 350mm... The std radiator is apparently 640 x 330 x 30 thick.

I'm a bit worried that the frontal area will be too small - has anyone done a smaller rad that hasn't overheated?

Brad put one out of a Honda City from memory and it did the trick.

Note - when considering anything about your conversion, think, in all cases, Matt Powers mini build encyclopedia!

I'd have to measure it to get you the size but that's mine and a thermo fan is sitting on the back of it also

My radiator is made from a VY commodore V8 radiator cut down so the core is 220x680mm and works OK no problems. Fits in behind a Clubman grill and runs from one side to the other

Cheers for that....

Does that radiator have both the ports at the top? Or does it just look that way....

I'm full of q's at the moment.... Which port on the block is exit and which is entry? And which should go to where on the rad? i.e. entry into rad should be at the top i would gather...

Secondly and a different subject again - what have people done with the alternator belt? Just used the original or are the same belt type available fairly readily in several lengths? Trying to find out the belt spec so i can start designing the idler for the water pump belt...

Oh yeah... and for you Gordo - are you gonna have any issue rego'ing the car with the modified exhaust mani? I was told i'd need to do emissions testing if any of the manifolds were modded...
