Yeah, hang in there meeni, I know how you feel.

Bummer about the welder, I broke mine a few months back and it turned out to be just a relay had fallen off the main board, I plugged it back in and away we went! Save me much $$$.

Good luck with it, it's looking great so far.

Chin up, these set backs are a pain but just makes the finished product so much more rewarding

Keep at it!

Yeah I pulled the cover off it to have a look but couldn't see anything wrong.. It's a pain cos it's practically brand new!

Wonder if anyone knows what's wrong, it's a tig so when you push the foot pedal it creates a circuit and you get a spark out of the gun to the metal but it doesn't "fire up" and start welding. Kind of like when you havnt got the earth connected but a bit stronger.. I checked the earth gas flow tried a different tungsten etc and can't find any issues... Anyone had a similar problem?

can you set it to "scratch start" mode and see if it works then?

Sounds like the high frequency start is working, we've had problems with loose wires in our hand pieces from new recently. If your able pull your hand piece and foot pedal apart and redo the connections. Some times they have a PC board in then too which the plugs aren't plugged in properly.
The problem we've had with ours has been pinched wires in the hand piece and the plugs not plugged in properly.
Make sure it's unplugged obviously

And try what's said above, the hi frequency might not be working properly. But sounds like it's shooting the arc

Havnt done a lot, money has been tight and my head hasn't been 100% in the zone with it so I didn't want to do it half arsed and have to do it all again. It's in pieces now with a few bits to do to the frame, a couple of structure braces to weld in and I need to make the fuel tank holder in the boot as well as cut down the rear subframe. Just a lot of
Little jobs to complete, still havnt had my welder fixed.. That's stopping me more
Then anything.

Updates will come lol..

Welder still isn't back yet the guy took a week off apparently but my angle grinder was working fine so I went about doing this.. I was going to keep the normal bonnet and keep the front welded on but who am I kidding, it's a pain in the arse to work on so why not get the front as far out the way as possible.

This method uses e36 boot hinges and is a pain in the arse to do so think hard if you want to have a go.. Looks cool though

Not much of an update but hey, off and running again

Works we'll enough for now until I get a bonnet on it etc and I can gap it properly.

Another thing. I'm thinking of going injection after all because of the probable addition of a turbo later on when I get used to it. What stand alone ecus are people using? Don't want to spend millions just has to run fuel and spark as well as thermo fans and handle boost later on. Let me know what's working well for people

I have just purchased a Haltech Platinum Sport 1000 through a mate who gets wholesale prices. That is going on the 7 port.

I have a plug & play mega squirt for a 1.8l mx5. I am sure it would work for any other engine. I am keen to get rid of it. It isn't the latest version, probably 4 years old.
