When I first came to Australia in 2000 someone told me that there was one around Adelaide that was turbo'ed. It apparently used to go out to Adelaide International Raceway regularly and be drag raced. But I've never seen it though. A couple of people told me they used to watch it out there. Don't know if anyone else from SA has heard of this before.

I heard a bloke in Brisbane was thinking about one ..
Goes by the Tag "Hugh Jorgan" on The Mini Forum UK  :P

Matt

If I may, I would like some info soon about a 1065cc[big bore kit]Suzuki[ex RR 9900r]to go into our "Ute"... Modded 75 Sedan.
...Either Front engine/RWD[ tail shaft] , or Rear engine/RWD/"Transaxle.
The rear window/bulkhead is 50mm behind the drivers seat, so "tray "is approx 1000mm long
A safe 2013

Lindsay Siebler (Minis Plus) built a Micra powered clubby around 10 years ago.

I don't know where it is now.

well i have a suzuki swift , 3cyl manual 5-speed & it`s a cracker of a donk, real cleran & crisp,,, complete driving car actually (minus some appolstery & glass)

it`s a damn good little candidate for an engine transplant if you ask me

& i`ve also got this micra but i reckon the micra is the pic

Image

again, another real clean & crisp 1.3 engine with manual 5-speed

Hhhmmmm,,,,, what to do???? sell the swift & keep the Micra???

or sell em both & just turbo charge my V8 Kombi ute :-)

There is a Moke here in Vic running a swift 3 cyl engine. Performance isn't real flash, but to be fair it does have a heavy plywood hardtop on it.

I'd go the Micra transplant personally.

Suzuki for an easy transplant due to it's size but the best power is the micra, plus a turbo and your laughing :D .

I was seriously looking into this Matt

I effectively got shot down in flames by 80% of the community
"Why bother"
"Why not 4EFTE"
"it doesn't make enough power to be cost effective"

I think it's a great coversion
The later motor from a K11 Micra will fit without any body mods at all, and to make things easier again you can stick it all on a K10 micra box which is small again.

The only issue I forsee is finding a suitable donor that doesn't need a rebuild for a good price.

TMF under engine conversions > other, has heaps of micra conversions.

A guy by the name of Bigchief has done a whole load of them and sells complete subframes, there are also wiring diagrams out there and tutorials.

One day...

You should be able to grab a K11 Micra engine and gearbox for < $1000; bonus will be it will be complete with a shell / etc.

well,,, i have to say that i`ve driven a whole pile of different mini engine conversions in my time,,, but i`ve just taken this micra for a thrash & i`m thoroughly impressed!!!,,, far better than i`d have thought,,, very responsive & heaps of power, feels like 90 or 100 hp,,, maybe this one has had some work done,,, it`s very tidy & crisp... plenty of punch :-) :-) :-) I`m liking this very very much :-) :-) :-)

so,,, after the rego runs out i reckon i`ll give this one a go into a mini,,, it`ll surely be a fair bit easier to fit than the turbo charged alloy V8 was ??? what you think??? :-) :-) :-)

i`ll be doing some autocross meetings in it shortly too :-)

what a little beauty !!!!!! :-)
